The Alamo News caught up with Senior Point Guard Aaron Valdez to ask him about the basketball season and his game. Here’s what he had to say in the Meet the Lions Q&A:

Q: Tell us when you knew you wanted to be a varsity basketball player, and why?

A:  Since I was born, cause I’m him.

Q: What is your fondest memory of your experience on the team this season?

A:   Beating Harvest Christian for the Gateway Championship.

Q: How excited are you about being a member of the basketball team?

A:   Super excited.

Q: What team is considered your biggest rival, and why?

A: Harvest Christian, they are the only other good team in our district. 

Q: What is your most memorable shot?

A: Junior season against Harvest Christian, we were down by 2 and I hit a big 3 to give us the lead and then stole the ball before they could respond to close out the game.

Q: What did you do this summer to improve your game to get ready for this season?

A:   Basketball camp and training. 

Q: Who has influenced your play style the most?

A:  No one really.

Q: What drew you to play basketball over other sports?

A:  It’s better, my parents put me in basketball since I was small. 

Q: What aspect of your game comes easy to you?

A:  Defense.

Q: Who ís you favorite professional basketball player? 

A:  LaMelo Ball & Kire Irving

Q: Who ís the greatest basketball player of all time?

A: LeBron James 

Q: What advice has the coach given you that you wíll always remember?

A:  Trust God, Trust eachother.

Q: If you could play any basketball player 1v1 who would it be?

A:  Karl Malone

Q: What is the worst practice you have ever endured?

A:   We had a practice where we had to run 18 suicides. 

Q: What is your favorite classroom subject? 

A:   Bible Study

Q: What is your favorite game day hype song?

A:   Our Song by Taylor Swift

Q: What tips would you give to someone going out for basketball?

A:   Put more time in than anyone else. 

Q: Who would you pick as your all time greatest starting five?

A:   Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Paul George and  Giannis Antetokounmpo.
